All contributions made to Endowed Projects (those beginning with “3”) are added to the corpus, or principal, of the endowment. The endowed principal may never be spent. Income earned on the principal is used to fund projects or programs. The Foundation’s endowed projects are jointly administered by department chairs or area directors and the Foundation. Disbursements from endowment earnings are made only when requested by the appropriate department chair or area director. Endowed projects are typically used to fund scholarships or professorships.

All contributions to Restricted Projects (those beginning with “0”) may be used to fund activities and programs. Restricted projects have been established for most academic and administrative areas on campus. Disbursements from restricted projects must be initiated by the various program directors or department chairs and approved by the appropriate academic dean or vice president. A minimum balance of $1,000 is required to establish a new project. Unrestricted contributions made to the Greater University Fund are disbursed across campus through a budgetary process which is approved and monitored by the University Vice Presidents and the Georgia Southern University Foundation Board of Directors.

Dr. Pamela G. Bourland-Davis Legacy Campaign

For nearly four decades, Dr. Pamela G. Bourland-Davis devoted her life to investing in people. Through her work at Georgia Southern University, she shaped students, mentored colleagues and strengthened the Communication Arts Department with a rare ability to see potential and cultivate it into something meaningful and impactful.

Today, her legacy lives on not only in her accomplishments but in the thousands of lives she influenced along the way.

It is with great purpose and vision that we announce the Dr. Pamela G. Bourland-Davis Legacy Campaign, an initiative created to honor her life’s work and carry it forward for future generations. With a fundraising goal of $5 million, this campaign seeks to elevate the Communication Arts Department into the Dr. Pamela G. Bourland-Davis School of Communication Arts; a milestone she long believed in and worked tirelessly to achieve.

This transformation represents far more than a name. It signals growth, distinction and opportunity. It reflects a commitment to academic excellence, expanded resources and a stronger platform for innovation in communication education. Most importantly, it ensures that Dr. Pam’s name, and the values she championed, remain permanently woven into the future of the program she helped build.

This campaign is a collective effort. It is an invitation to alumni, colleagues, friends, family and community partners to join in honoring her legacy while actively shaping what comes next.

As we step into this next chapter, we remain grounded in the principles Dr. Pam embodied: mentorship, opportunity, a global perspective and a deep belief in the power of communication to change lives.

We invite you to be part of this enduring impact. Together, we can create something lasting; an investment that will influence students and communities for generations to come. To learn more, or donate today, please visit: https://drpamlegacy.com/give-now.
